Police: 18-year-old man dead after stabbing near 39th and Cherry

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is currently investigating a stabbing that left a man dead.

It happened Saturday evening near 39th and Cherry.

According to police, the 18-year-old man was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Family members identified him as Devon Shamar Lee Brown.

"Devon was a special child," said his grandma, Susie Brown, "There was nothing that he couldn’t do, that he couldn’t accomplish."

Police say the stabbing incident stemmed from a family argument and said a suspect is in custody.

"It was nothing intentional, believe me the family is grieving from this," said William Brown.

Family members say it was an accident between siblings.

"All siblings get into something and it was just a freak accident," said William Brown, "But at the end of the day, we're all family and family love each other."

"What happened to him was a tragic accident. It was nothing purposely done to him and we’re gonna miss him, we’re going to miss him dearly," said Susie Brown.
