Pleasant Prairie issues temporary burn ban following severe drought conditions

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Pleasant Prairie has implemented a temporary burn ban on all outdoor burning within the village on Monday, June 14. It is effective immediately.

Officials say the ban is in place due to the severe drought conditions in Kenosha County. The ban hopes to reduce the risk of wildland fires that could get out of control and extend to structures.

The burn restriction applies to all burning, including burn permits and fire pit use. Officials say extreme dryness can cause smoking materials to start fires that can quickly spread.

The suspension on burning will remain until weather conditions improve, officials say.
