Pleasant Prairie asking for closer look at railroad crossing

PLEASANT PRAIRIE-There have been two accidents in as many weeks at the train crossing on County Road H.


It's a crossing that does not have lights or gates and now local police are asking the railroad authorities to take a second look.




\"We're asking the railroad commission to take another look at this crossing,\" Chief Dave Smentana told CBS 58 News, \"We want them to see if it (the crossing) doesn't need someone to take another look at its warnings.\"

 


In regards to Tuesday morning's crash police say 28-year old Saul-Ruiz Rocha received minor injuries when he hit a parked train shortly before 5 am.



He was given 4 citations for no proof of insurance, no driver licenses, driving without a seat belt and inattentive driving.

 


Jeff Plale, Railroad Commissioner said he was in the process of talking to Pleasant Prairie Police  after he heard of the first accident at the end of June.



The latest one is now pushing officials to move faster.



\"It will expedite the conversation, no question about that,\" Plale said Tuesday.
