Plea Deal Likely for Wisconsin Woman in 2015 Texting Fatal Accident

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) --- A 29-year-old woman charged with second degree reckless homicide in the July death of her roommate is scheduled to reach a plea deal Monday morning and will avoid a jury trial.

Jessica Hendricks is free on a $50,000 signature bond.

Investigators said Scott Carlson was on a motorcycle near the intersection State Highway 173 near Kimball Ave. in the Town of Port Edwards when a vehicle headed west on Highway 173 hit the rear of the bike just before around 10 p.m. on July 25. Carlson was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to court documents, Hendricks admitted to reading a text message at the time of the crash.

Monday's hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
