NOW: Playoff watch parties return to the Deer District

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Bucks are set to take on the Miami Heat Saturday in their first game of the post season. There will be increased capacity at Fiserv Forum and for the first time in more than a year, fans will be able to gather for a watch party in the Deer District.

“Saturday’s going to be a really special moment,” said Dustin Godsey, the chief marketing officer for The Bucks.

There will be a stage for live entertainment and a giant screen to watch the game.

“We’re much further ahead than I thought we’d be,” said Peter Feigin, president of The Bucks.

Fiserv Forum and Deer District Senior Executive Chef Kenneth Hardiman has been preparing for this day. He has new items on the menu at Mecca including buffalo chicken dip, a crab cake sandwich, nachos and much more.

“Definitely lots of excitement,” Hardiman said. “A lot of people are feeling more comfortable going out, dining out."

But it’s not business as usual yet.

From 11 am until tipoff at 1, the plaza will be open to fans with game tickets.

At 1 it opens to general public.

Capacity is 3500 people and masks are required.

There will also be social distancing.

Inside Fiserv Forum, capacity is increasing to 50 percent. That means 9000 fans.

“Over half the team has not played in the building with a full house so it’ll be exciting for them to see start to see what this fan base can do,” Godsey said.
