A plan to rebuild a Milwaukee Church intends to serve a greater purpose.
St. Rita Church on Cass Street on Milwaukee's East Side would be torn down then rebuilt with senior housing containing a memory care unit and retail space.
The developer says he feels especially connected to the location because it is rich in history.
The project has a great personal interest to me, both my mother and father Sicilian, both grew up in the Third Ward our family has a very similar story as many Italian Sicilians have on the east side,” says Jim Tarantino of Tarantino & Co.
Once the development is finished, the plan is to sell it back to the church for just a dollar.
