Pius XI takes on the theme of peace with series of performances

In light  of the recent local and national events involving violence in the local community, Milwaukee, the schools, and the nation, Pius XI Performing Arts is  dedicating several upcoming performances to explore the ideals of peacemaking.

The students and staff say they were Inspired by the visit of Pope Francis and his powerful words, 'Never has the use of violence brought peace in its wake'  in coming up with the concept.

Starting Thursday, October 29 through  Sunday, November 1 in the Pius XI Black Box Theater students will perform  “Radiance of A Thousand Suns: The Hiroshima Project."

Performances are at   7PM with a 2PM show on Sunday.

This play examines the historical, political and scientific events that culminated in the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The play explores the human connections made across the ocean, and examines the concept of “peace at any price.”

Starting on Wednesday, November 4 , at 7PM in the Father Robert V. Carney Performing Arts Center at Pius XI DeMaria Lecture Series Presents:

“Dialogues on Diversity: The Black / Jew Dialogues”

Presented by nationally renowned performers, This extraordinary two-actor play explores the absurdity of prejudice and racism and the power of diversity. The program combines fast-paced sketches, improvisations, multi-media, puppets, a game show, and a post-show discussion.
