Pit bull bites one-year-old girl in face at Racine home

RACINE -- A one-year-old girl was seriously injured after her grandparent's pit bull bit her in the face on August 5.

According to police, the infant was visiting her grandparents when she was bitten by the family's pit bull. The victim's grandfather told police he had just put the pit bull on a leash to go outside when the dog unexpectedly turned around and bit the girl in the face.

Flight for Life transported the girl to Children's Hospital for emergency treatment.  While the one year old's facial injuries are severe, they are not believed to be life threatening.

The red nose pit bull involved in this incident is three-years-old and is under a 10 day quarantine.
