Pewaukee Lake Gator 8s returns with new women's division at Lakefront Park

PEWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Club is set to host its third annual Pewaukee Lake Gator 8s barefoot water-skiing competition. Over 30 competitors from across the Midwest and Canada will engage in head-to-head, double-elimination figure 8 tournament.

The Saturday, Oct. 7 event at Lakefront Park marks the competition's inclusion in the Figure 8 National Barefoot Series, and it is the seventh stop of eight on the national tour. The event, which begins at 8:15 a.m., also debuts a women’s division this year.

Phil Shepet, the club's president, said in a press release on Tuesday, Oct. 3, "It’s amazing to see how the tournament has grown over the last two years."

The competition serves as a fundraiser for the club's community initiatives. The club, set to celebrate its 40th anniversary next year, organizes free weekly water ski shows and various ski clinics.

This year, part of the proceeds will assist a club member with medical bills following a critical injury.
