ELM GROVE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- May 20 is National Rescue Dog Day. One local rescue was given a second chance at a happy life, and now she's spreading that joy ten times over. Petunia offers therapy at various facilities across SE Wisconsin, and all she has to do is give cuddles and kisses.

"We go to assisted living facilities, memory care facilities, mental health facilities," said Lisa Finke. Finke adopted Petunia after she arrived in Wisconsin from Texas. Finke is also the administrative manager at Central Bark in Milwaukee.

"She was brought to us through 'Project Freedom Ride,'" said Finke. "We picked her up. She came off the bus, melted right into me and I knew she would be a therapy dog."

Petunia visits people three days a week at different facilities. She's officially hit 55 visits this May. CBS 58 hung out with Petunia during a visit at Heritage Elm Grove Monday morning, May 20.
