Petfest makes return to Milwaukee's lakefront, will feature poster created by MIAD student

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Fromm Petfest makes a return to Milwaukee's lakefront for the 10th annual event on September 23.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., celebrate your four-legged friends at a day of fun along the shores of Lake Michigan.

Attendees can expect the return of fan favorite attractions including dock diving, lure and agility courses, the Doggie Dash speed trial, open play at the Petfest Dog Park and Adoption Avenue where people can meet dozens of animal-related non-profits.

There will be live music and entertainment throughout the day, along with shopping, games, activities and festival food and drinks.

Petfest partners with senior students at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) for a competition for the annual Petfest commemorative poster.

"For the past six years, it's just been a great partnership, every single year, we bring the students together we give them an overview of the project and they try their hand at creating a poster that represents that year of Petfest," said Bryan Nieman, Fromm Family Pet Food.

Out of more than 75 entries, the winning poster was done by a MIAD student named Maggie Carroll. It will be printed and sold at this year's Petfest.

Petfest is free as well as free parking.

All proceeds from activity ticket sales will be donated to animal-related non-profits nominated by Petfest sponsors as part of the Petfest Pals
program, a give-back initiative founded in 2022.

“Ten years ago, we had a dream of creating an event that would be inclusive of the entire family, especially our pets- who have become such an integral part of the family unit,” said Bryan Nieman, Brand Director for Fromm Family Foods representing the fifth-generation of his family business. “The support from our partners and the love of pets that runs through our community has helped solidify Petfest as a must-attend event for pet lovers. We love seeing old friends return and making new ones each year and we’re very excited to celebrate this milestone with Milwaukee.”

Dogs and cats of all kinds are welcome to Fromm Petfest and are required to be on leash, up to date on vaccinations, and have a waiver signed which will be made available online as well as at each entrance the day of the event.
