Person escapes house fire near 13th & Hopkins

MILWAUKEE-- Milwaukee firefighters were called out to battle a blaze at a home near 13th & Hopkins Saturday night.


Authorities arrived on scene around 11:00 p.m.


The homeowner was there when the fire broke out, but was able to exit safely on his own.


Fire officials said that there were working smoke detectors in the home.


The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.


There was $77,000 worth of damage to the home and $28,000 worth of damage to contents in the home.


CBS 58 talked to that homeowner Sunday when he arrived back to retrieve some of his property. He said that he will be staying with family.
