FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Inside the Indian Community School in Franklin Friday morning, April 4, the sounds of the Bear Moon Pow Wow were heard.
The Bear Moon Pow Wow is where Native Americans and the public gathered for a celebration of Native culture, music and dance.
Friday's event brough together dozens of tribes from around the area, with more than 40 tribes represented at the Indian Community School alone.
Organizers told us that although there are all kids of different traditions with each tribe, coming together gives them a great sense of connection.
"That cohesiveness, that togetherness has always been with us since time immemorial. We've always been the kind of people that want to gather and share our understanding with each other." said Mark Powless, Our Ways Director at Indian Community School.
This was the sixth year of the Pow Wow, it was supposed to be held in January, but it was postponed due to the cold so everyone could make it to the event safely.
