Penn State lands second Catholic Memorial High School commit in Corey Smith

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Not too long after one 2024 recruit from Catholic Memorial High School committed to Penn State, James Franklin has inked yet another today.

2024 running back recruit Corey Smith has committed to play for Penn State.

Smith was the number three recruit in the state of Wisconsin, behind his fellow teammate Donovan Harbour.

Smith was also a top 25 running back in the 2024 class.

He was a four-star recruit and had offers from plenty of notable schools around the country, including Illinois, Tennessee and Notre Dame.

The Nittany Lions currently have the 5th overall recruiting class in 2024.

Smith's offer comes from Penn State's running back coach Ja'Juan Seider. He was offered on Feb. 9, then took an unofficial visit earlier this month.

He will now join his teammate, Harbour, and play for Franklin in Happy Valley.

With the addition of Smith, Penn State now has a talented backfield of Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen and London Montgomery (2023) -- a running back room that is full of talent and youth.
