Pedestrian dies after being hit by semi in Manitowoc County

MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Manitowoc man is dead after police say he was hit by a semi in the Town of Newton.

It happened just after 1:00 a.m. on February 2 in the area of County Road CR south of Viebahn Street.

The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says a 52-year-old Manitowoc man was hauling milk in a tanker trailer for Wiese Trucking from Lomira when he collided with a pedestrian, later identified as 70-year-old James Eberhardt. Eberhardt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
