MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An MPS teacher is receiving a special honor.
Dave Weidenbach at Honey Creek Elementary School has been named the 2018 Wisconsin Health and Physical Education Elementary PE Teacher of the Year.
It's the fifth time in the past six years that an MPS teacher has received the honor from Wisconsin Health and Physical Education Association.
Weidenbach credits social media for keeping his lessons new and fresh.
"Social media has been a big, huge impact on me. I can talk to someone in Australia about what they're doing successful, they can give me pointers and I can give my successes out to other teachers so it's a win-win for everybody. It's awesome.
The award was not a complete surprise for Weidenbach. He said he was told about the honor back in April.
