Paul Ryan promotes new book in Milwaukee

Milwaukee-- Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan addressed more than 100 people in Downtown Milwaukee during the second stop of a nationwide tour promoting his new book \"The Way Forward\",

\"We are in a rough patch, and we've got to recognize it for what it is, see the dangerous trajectory that we are on, and have the kind of election to get the consent of the American people to fix it.   And we have to provide the solutions, and that's precisely why I wrote this book.,\" Ryan said during a question and answer session at the Milwaukee Intercontinental Hotel.

The one-time vice presidential candidate says it's not enough to blame the Obama White House and democrats for this country's problems.  Which is why in his first book, Ryan critiques his own party, is candid about how family struggles and successes shaped his life, and offers ideas to get America back on track.  The Milwaukee tour stop was hosted by the MacIver Institute, a conservative think tank.  Ryan echoed a recurring theme in the book, that the GOP needs to broaden its appeal by better communicating its message of inclusiveness.  \"Which is we have good ideas and good solutions that speak to everybody.  I think we need to do a better job of campaigning and talking about these ideas everywhere.  And so for me, I want to respect every person by asking them to take a look at the solutions and these ideas, and see if they may not be better than what we're getting right now.\"



The book is fueling more talk about a possible presidential bid.  But Ryan once again said now is not the time to talk about 2016.  During Thursday night's book tour event in Chicago, Ryan will make his first public appearance with Mitt Romney since their failed White House bid in 2012.
