Passenger killed in Jefferson County rollover crash, driver facing charges

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A woman has died following a rollover crash near Lake Mills, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident on I-94 east of State Highway 89 around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6.

Officials say a vehicle was traveling westbound with two occupants, a 41-year-old male driver and 43-year-old female passenger, when the vehicle began to swerve and traveled onto the right shoulder. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer across the westbound lanes into the median, where it rolled multiple times.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities, and the passenger died at the scene.

Officials say the driver will be charged with operating after revocation and intoxicated use of a motor vehicle causing death.

The incident remains under investigation.
