Ashley Ropel MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Baseball games, especially these, in the playoffs, are games fans never forget.
But Game 4 on Oct. 15 will be extra special for a father and son from Wisconsin who recently moved to the West Coast, as the young boy was surprised with tickets to the game.
Henry Ropel was woken up by his parents, Ashley and Jonathan, who pretended he missed the school bus. In a video that's gotten a lot of attention on social media, they're heard saying, "Henry, you missed the bus. It's 7:30, what are you doing?" To which Henry responds, "I did?" Later on, you hear Jonathan say, "I have a good idea. Why don't we go to LA and go to Game 4?" as Henry exclaims, "Actually?" and jumps out of bed to hug his dad and mom.
The Ropels are from Milwaukee, recently moving to Nevada. They're longtime Brewers fans and missed watching their team. That's when the perfect opportunity hit. On Friday, Ashley and Jonathan looked at ticket prices. Jonathan said, "The Uecker seats weren't too bad, so we decided to surprise Henry and take him to a playoff game - his first playoff game."
The father and son then took on a roughly four-and-a-half-hour drive, during which CBS 58's Montse Ricossa Facetimed with them to catch up.
Henry plays baseball and says he loves the sport, excited to see it with his dad. Jonathan, meanwhile, mentioned he used to work at then-Miller Park for a few years, and is ready for the Brewers to take home the World Series.
"I was a baby when the Brewers were last in the World Series in '82. So, this is an experience that none of us have had before, and to potentially be there when they clinch the chance to go to the World Series, it's just -- it's the most exciting experience, feeling that I could have."
Jonathan thanked his wife Ashley for putting together the logistics of the surprise and helping them get to the exciting game.
