Packers to leave for Seattle a day early

GREEN BAY--Coach Mike McCarthy announced the Green Bay Packers will leave for Seattle on Friday, as opposed to Saturday, at his media availability Monday.

McCarthy did not go into specific reasons but said it's something they have planned for awhile.

\"These are things that we've been looking at for quite some time [with] our involvement in some of the new sports science themes,\" McCarthy said. \"I think our training staff and Mark Lovat and just the fact that we're trying to get better in everything we're doing. This is something that we've had planned and had been looking at in advance.

\"These are all part of trying to improve.\"

The Packers play the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Sunday at 2:00 pm CST.
