Packers Sign Cornerback from Practice Squad to Active Roster

The Green Bay Packers have signed CB Herb Waters to the active roster from the practice squad, placed CB Makinton Dorleant on injured reserve and signed CB Keith Baxter to the practice squad. The transactions were announced Thursday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Waters, a 6-foot, 188-pound rookie, was originally signed by Green Bay as an undrafted rookie out of the University of Miami (Fla.) on May 6. After being released by the Packers on Sept. 3, he was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 5, where he spent the entire regular season. In college, he started 20 of 47 games played as a wide receiver, including 11 of 13 as a senior. He set career highs with 41 receptions for 624 yards (15.2 avg.) in 2015. His 15.2 yards-per-catch average was the best among Miami receivers in 2015 and his 624 receiving yards ranked third on the team. Waters will wear No. 26 for the Packers.

Baxter, a 5-foot-11, 192-pound rookie out of Marshall, originally signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 6, but was released on Aug. 1. He spent a few days on the Packers’ practice squad in October. In college, he appeared in 42 games, recording 66 tackles, 14 passes defensed, two interceptions, a sack and a fumble recovery. Baxter will wear No. 41 for the Packers.
