GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Packers bring in eight players from different schools, and now they become teammates. Mattthew Golden and Barryn Sorrell just get to continue that from their days at Texas.
"Me and Barryn was tight," Golden said. "He was the first guy I connected with when I was at Texas. To be on the same team with him is pretty cool."
"We just built a relationship at Texas, literally riding to practice every day, talking about the grind, talking about what his dreams were, what my dreams were," Sorrell said. "The way things turned out, guess we’re going to see each other a lot more. Couldn’t be more thankful for that."
The threads continue. Fellow wideout Savion Williams hosted Golden when Golden nearly went to TCU.
"When he came up there, it was cool," Williams said. "We text every now and then, he text me on draft night. It’s cool to have someone you know."
"Like a full circle to have somebody that I know," said Golden. "We’re gonna push each other each and every day."
As for Packers who were already here, 6th round pick Warren Brison met Kingsley Enagbare in high school, and 7th round pick Micah Robinson has actual family on the team.
"Malik Willis is actually my cousin," Robinson said. "I actually just saw him before I walked in here a couple minutes ago. I got a chance to talk to him. First time talking to him since being up here, so, it’s like family welcome. I’m blessed to be on this team but it’s also crazy that I’m on the same team as him."
For Robinson, this was his only visit during the draft process. He said he joked with the coaches he would be back here.
