Packers make moves as game week begins

GREEN BAY - The Packers took the practice field Monday to start their first game week of the 2018 season, but the roster tinkering continues as the Pack prepare for the Bears.

Running back Darius Jackson is the newest Packer. He played for Dallas in the preseason, but chose a spot on the Packers active roster over the Cowboys' practice squad.

Fifth-year linebacker Korey Toomer also signed with the team to help provide depth at a thin position. The Packers had just four active players on the depth chart at outside linebacker before signing Toomer.

Wide receiver Jake Kumerow from UW-Whitewater has landed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, and the Packers gave the last two spots on the practice squad to Marwin Evans and Tony Brown.

Green Bay hosts Chicago Sunday night at Lambeau Field in the season opener for both teams.
