Over One Thousand Milwaukee Residents Without Power

Milwaukee -- Multiple power outages in Milwaukee County had utility crews and customers scrambling this morning. One of the outages happened on the campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center.

WE Energies said they received a call at 8:22 a.m. that both Froedtert and Children's Hospital were without power, but their generators had kicked in. At the time, more than 300 people were without power according to the WE Energies website.

After some investigation, it was discovered that the construction crew working at the Zoo Interchange had hit an underground cable.

But it doesn't stop there.

At about  9:30 a.m., a separate power outage on Milwaukee's North side occured, affecting over 1,000 people. WE Energies says this is unrelated to the power outage at the medical campus.

The area affected ranges from I-43 and North Ave, to 18th Street and Fond du Lac Ave. WE Energies is currently investigating the cause of the outage and working to restore power.

Power has since been restored to the Milwaukee medical campus and surrounding area. Customers were without electricity for about 90 minutes.

We will continue to update this story as it develops.
