MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With Juneteenth only a few days away, celebrations are beginning to kick off throughout Milwaukee.
Tuesday, at the Northcott Neighborhood House, organizers unveiled new, exciting experiences added to this year's festival.
Milwaukee is home to one of the longest-running Juneteenth celebrations in the country, with this year being the 54th annual festival.
President Tony Kearney reflected on how the day continues to promote community involvement.
"We want inclusion. We want everyone who is here in Milwaukee, or coming to Milwaukee, to know that you are welcome at Juneteenth," Kearney said.
The Juneteenth festival will begin this Thursday, June 19, alongside Summerfest, marking a day of celebration throughout the Cream City.
