OnStar used to track teenage car thieves

MILWAUKEE -- Four teenagers were arrested by police following short foot chase near the Milwaukee/Glendale border. All four teenagers were riding around a stolen Buick Verano around 6:00 a.m.


According to Milwaukee police, OnStar alerted them to the car theft. Milwaukee police worked with OnStar to track the vehicle. Once police located the vehicle, OnStar remotely turned off the vehicle. The car continued to roll after being shut down until it hit a light pole at the intersection of Hampton Ave. and Port Washington Rd.


All four teenagers fled the vehicle leading police on a foot chase. Three teenagers were arrested after a short foot chase. The fourth teenager was found in the Milwaukee River by Glendale police. The fourth teenager is now in Milwaukee police custody.


Police arrested a 16-year-old male, 18-year-old male, 17-year-old male, and a 15-year-old female.


Charges are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
