Milwaukee Police were able to use OnStar to track and arrest three who were involved in armed robbery and carjacking on Milwaukee’s Northwest Side.
A 48-year-old Milwaukee woman told officers she was inside her 2007 Saturn VUE when two suspects approached her, one armed with a gun, and ordered her out of the car. District Four officers responded to a parking lot in the 10300 block of West Silver Spring Drive around 12:15 PM on September 9.
The victim complied and the two suspects fled from the scene in her vehicle. The suspects then committed another armed robbery around 12:30 PM in a parking lot in the 9200 block of West Lisbon Avenue where they stole a purse from a 65-year-old Milwaukee woman and fled in the Saturn VUE.
Using the stolen car’s OnStar system, officers from Districts Four and Seven were able to locate it near N. 76 Street and West Green Tree Road. They pursued the vehicle until it crashed just before 1:30 PM near North 54th Street and West Congress Street. A MPD squad car also crashed into a fence at the end of the pursuit and the officers inside the squad were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Three men suspects fled on foot from the stolen car and were arrested a short time later by officers. Officers also recovered the gun believed to have been used in both crimes.
