Officials: Stabbing suspect tries hiding from police inside chest freezer

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Mayville man is accused of stabbing another man and then hiding from police in a basement freezer. 

Just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, Mayville police said they were called for a report of a stabbing that occurred near Allen and Main Streets

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 29-year-old man with cuts to his head, neck and hands. The man told police he met the suspect in a local tavern earlier in the evening before being stabbed. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. 

Authorities were able to gather a description of the suspect with help of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department, Horicon Police Department, Mayville EMS, WI DOJ Division of Criminal Investigation and Wisconsin State Crime Lab.

Police went to the suspect's Mayville home and he was located hiding in a chest freezer in his basement. 

The suspect was taken to the Dodge County Detention Facility and charges are being requested through the Dodge County District Attorney's Office for aggravated battery.
