Officials: Death of 15-year-old girl at Greenfield hotel being investigated as suspicious

GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner will be doing an autopsy Monday, Sept. 21 in the case of a suspicious death of a 15-year-old girl at a hotel near Highway 100 and Beloit Road.

According to the Medical Examiner, the call came in Saturday morning.

On Monday morning, a joint statement from the School District of Greenfield and the Greenfield Police Department was released: 

"The School District of Greenfield has been informed by the Greenfield Police Department that on Saturday, 09/19/2020, at 8:02 AM, the Greenfield Police Department was called to 3600 South 108th Street for an unresponsive female. Unfortunately, lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. The female was later identified as a 15 year old former Greenfield School District student.

There is an active, ongoing investigation by the Greenfield Police Department into the circumstances surrounding this individual's death. Due to the ongoing investigation and because the individual is a juvenile, no additional information will be shared at this time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this very difficult time. There are school counselors available for students and staff to help process their feelings of grief."
