Officers Injured during domestic disturbance in Greenfield

Greenfield, WI – Two Greenfield Police Officers were injured Sunday night when responding to the report of a domestic violence incident at the Hideaway Inn.

A  41-year-old female called the police to report that she was being abused by a 48-year-old man.  When officers arrived, they were confronted by the victim’s 21-year-old son.  The 21-year-old was also was confrontational with the suspect of the domestic violence report.  Officers tried keep the incident from escalating, but, the 21-year-old became increasingly agitated and would not comply with the officer’s directions.  When the officers tried to take the 21-year-old into custody, he physically resisted the officers.  A taser was deployed but was ineffective so officers had to physically restrain the man.

Both of the injured Officers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. One of them, a 31-year-old male with 7 years of experience, was treated for his injuries and later released.  The second Officer, a 33-year-old male with 2 years of experience, remains hospitalized with facial injuries.

The 21-year-old man was check out at a local hospital and released.  He was then taken into custody and is being held in the Criminal Justice Facility pending a review of charges by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.   

The suspect in the original domestic violence was arrested and is being held in the Criminal Justice Facility pending a review of charges by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.  He was not injured during the incident.

The 41-year-old female victim did not seek medical treatment.
