Officer Struck and Shots Fired During Early Morning Vehicle Pursuit

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating after a fleeing auto struck a District Seven police officer who was standing near it. Officers were on foot patrol in the 3200 block of W. Villard Avenue early this morning when the officers saw a firearm in a vehicle and attempted to speak to the male occupant.

The occupant drove towards an officer, striking him. A second officer discharged his firearm at the driver of the fleeing auto.  A pursuit was initiated until Milwaukee Police lost sight of the vehicle. The officer that was struck did not require medical attention.

The vehicle was recovered near N. 91st Street and W. Bradley Road a short time later. A person of interest was taken into custody. The Milwaukee Police are investigating to determine if anyone in the fleeing auto was injured when the officer discharged his weapon.
