Off-Duty MPD Officer Shoots Robbery Suspect Near 73rd and Good Hope

A Milwaukee Police Officer was flagged down for a robbery in progress and shot the suspect during a confrontation.

According to MPD, an off-duty Milwaukee Police Lieutenant was in the area of 73rd and Good Hope Road on Sunday, May 8, around 11:30 AM. The officer was told by a store employee that Sally Beauty Supply, located at 7335 W. Good Hope Road, was being robbed. 

The Police Lieutenant confronted the suspect and fired several shots, hitting the suspect. The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle and later was located at 76th and Mill Road.

The suspect is a 25-year-old Milwaukee man. He is currently being treated at the hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wounds and has been arrested for this incident.

The suspect is a convicted felon and has a lengthy arrest record for various offenses ranging from robbery to burglary, motor vehicle theft, battery, resisting an officer and drug possession.

The Police Lieutenant is a 48-year-old with 22 years of service with MPD and was assigned to the Investigative and Intelligence Bureau. The officer was not injured during the incident and will be placed on Administrative Duty per policy.
