Oakfield man charged with 9 felonies after crash into Fond du Lac store
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Charges have been announced against 20-year-old Benjamin H. Ayer, who is facing nine class F felonies, including Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle - Great Bodily Harm and eight counts of First-Degree Reckless Endangering Safety.
Ayer is also charged with two misdemeanors: Possession of Marijuana and Operating While Intoxicated Causing Injury - First Offense.
The incident occurred on April 27 when Ayer, allegedly intoxicated, crashed into an occupied business in Fond du Lac. A canister believed to be used for "huffing," marijuana pipe, grinder and a small amount of marijuana were found in Ayer's vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
Ayer faces over 60 years of initial prison time. A cash bond of $300,000 has been set with additional conditions. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 12 at 2 p.m.
The case is being investigated by the City of Fond du Lac Police Department with assistance from additional law enforcement agencies.
