Numerous School Board Election Campaign Signs Stolen in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY - The Washington County Sheriff's Department is investigating after numerous campaign signs were recovered on Valley View Drive in the Town of Farmington.

The signs were for candidates from a school board election and were believed to have been taken from the Village of Kewaskum and the surrounding area.

As the spring election nears and races become contested, the Washington County Sheriff's Department reminds everyone that under Wisconsin Law State Statute 12.13 (3)(h), no person may deface, destroy or remove any legally placed election campaign sign or alter the information printed on it. Doing so can result in a fine of $100 per sign.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office will investigate all violations. If anyone has any information about this recent theft, they are asked to call the Washington County Sheriff at  (262) 335-4378 or the Kewaskum Police Department at (262) 626-2323.
