The American Flag is flying in a brand new place here in Milwaukee. They raised Old Glory for the first time at the new Northwestern Mutual office tower on the East end of Wisconsin Avenue.
Today's flag raising ceremony was, in a way, an early look at the tower and commons, which officially opens later this summer. But more than that, it was a special tribute to the men and women who served in the military and fought for the flag.
"Being here at Northwestern Mutual as we open the tower and commons, being able to celebrate and honor America by raising the flag, It's an exciting milestone for myself as a veteran as well as an employee of Northwestern Mutual," said Greg Fischer of Northwestern Mutual Insurance.
The Northwestern Mutual Tower stands 32-stories tall, reshaping the city's skyline, and according the company's website, it will bring 1,900 new jobs to Milwaukee.
