Nordstrom breaks into Milwaukee market

Nordstrom opened its first store in Wisconsin on Friday, October 23 at Mayfair Mall.

An estimated 2,000 people had lined up several hours before the opening at 10 AM.

"When we say customer you say service," shouted a manager. Managers revved up sales associates and customers.

"I've been waiting 20 years for this," yelled a customer, as she came through the door.

Customers shook hands with the President of Stores Jamie Nordstrom. He is the fourth generation family member in the business.

"We've been looking forward to coming here for a long time," Nordstrom told CBS 58 News. "We've had a store in Chicago since 1990. So, we're thrilled to be finally able to serve our Milwaukee customers in their hometown. It's great. Our store design team did a terrific job of building what I think is our best store ever."

The first 1,500 customers received a beauty bag.

There were plenty of complimentary services available, including, makeovers at the cosmetics counter.

Nordstrom is hoping its Mayfair Mall location becomes the destination of choice this weekend for those who would like to indulge.
