Non-profit organization horses need new home
FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) - An area non-profit organization that does animal-assisted therapy for children with special needs is looking for a new place for their horses to live, and they need your help.
The horses belong to Whisper Hill Clydesdales, a non-profit organization that offers animal-assisted therapy that serves special needs children and adults, seniors, wounded warriors, and veterans. Interaction with the horses helps lift their spirits.
"After a stressful week or whatever, this is what therapy does," says Tim Wiskow, Whisper Hill's Executive Director. "It's relaxing, it's calming. Animals give unconditional love. It is not about me-me-me, it's about the animals just loving, and they just want a little bit of petting."
But soon, the horses won't have a place to stay. The lease for the farm they currently live on expires on November 15th, and it is not being renewed, because the current owner wants to use it for other purposes. So Whisper Hill is hoping to buy a new property for the horses in the Neenah-Menasha area.
"Beautiful property, it has 18 acres, it has all the facilities that we need," Wiskow explains.
If they're not able to raise the money, Whisper Hill will lose the horses.
"We've seen people smile, show emotions for the first time, cry over my animals, speak their first words. You know, it's very priceless, and i just can't let it go," Wiskow says.
If you'd like to donate to help them keep the horses, Whisper Hill has set up a GoFundMe page with the goal of raising money to make a down payment on the property.
