MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)-- It's time for the city of Milwaukee's 108th Christmas tree to come down.
The Department of Public Works Forestry Unit will chip the branches and cut the trunk into sections.
In partnership with Black Husky Brewing, the tree's remains will be carved into original works of art. The branches will also be used to brew a winter batch of spruce beer.
"This is a real testament that even really stupid ideas can actually be turned around and to be something kind of positive," Black Husky Brewing Owner Tim Eichinger said.
Black Husky Brewing will auction off the sculptures, with proceeds going to the Milwaukee Urban Forestry Fund, an organization that helps plant trees in Milwaukee.
