MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The future of the Mitchell Park Domes came up as Milwaukee County's Parks Director spoke at the Rotary Club Tuesday.
Earlier this month, a Task Force sent a renovation plan for the aging structures to the full County Board. It's a $66 million plan that would fix the cement and the glass panels on the Domes.
Guy Smith, Director of the Milwaukee County Parks System, gave an update on that part of the progress.
"The tests came back pretty positive for the concrete, that we're looking pretty good structurally with the concrete within the Domes," he said. "The one study that is still ongoing that I believe we're gonna have more information in December is the glazing system."
The glazing system refers to those glass panels that dominate the Domes. The renovation plan would also create a new restaurant, an events venue, and a welcome and education center.
Smith also discussed the Parks Fund with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and addressed rumors of some Milwaukee County parks up for sale.
