NEWaukee Night Market season canceled due to COVID-19

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The 2020 NEWaukee Night Market season has been canceled due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Night Markets were originally scheduled to be held on West Wisconsin Avenue between Plankinton and Vel R. Phillips Avenue on June 10, July 8, August 19 and September 9.

"The health and safety of our staff, vendors, sponsors and attendees are our highest priority," said CEO and co-founder Angela Damiani.

NEWaukee has also canceled their annual Urban Island Beach Party in Lakeshore State Park, which was originally scheduled for July 31.

In a press release, NEWaukee says the COVID-19 situation is being closely monitored. If alternative event plans are possible in the future, updates will be shared via social media and online at newaukee.com.

Otherwise, they say the Night Market will be back in 2021.

"We hope that the NEWaukee Night Market will be back and better than ever next summer," said Damiani. "And we cannot wait to once again gather together with the community.
