New security enhancements for Wisconsin licenses, ID cards
MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles rolled out redesigned driver licenses and identification cards with advanced security features on Monday, June 5.
"Wisconsin DMV is committed to state-of-the-art security for our driver licenses and ID cards," said Craig Thompson, WisDOT Secretary.
The cards feature intricate designs that make the designs Wisconsin-centric, transparent windows for data display, a unique "flipping effect" that alters the image seen at different angles and a prominently displayed orange DONOR dot for organ donors.
These enhancements will be available on both regular and REAL ID cards.
DMV Administrator Kristina Boardman stated that the aesthetics of the cards are paired with layered security measures to protect cardholders and businesses. Cards with the new features will replace the current versions as they expire.
