MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee lawmaker wants communities to be able to crack down on illicit massage parlors faster.
Right now, investigators are handled at the state level. It took years to bust a New Berlin massage parlor for running a prostitution ring.
Representative Joe Sanfelippo introduced a bill that lets communities take swift action.
It would create local ordinances that police departments would enforce.
"We need to change the laws so that our local police departments who are our boots on the ground and are there to be able to react swifter, give them some authority to do so," said Rep. Joe Sanfelippo.
Representative Sanfelippo introduced the bill last session but didn't have time to move the bill through the senate. He plans to re-introduce the bill this session.
