There's a new park in Milwaukee honoring a woman who was dedicated to helping children and volunteering with the Red Cross.
The Gwen T Jackson Triangle Park is near 68th and Fond du Lac on the city's northwest side.
Jackson volunteered for the Red Cross for 50 years and was on the national chair of volunteers.
She was an advocate for early childhood education.
City leaders say the park is just one say to say thank you for her work.
"We honor you here today. Hopefully, this park is something that can live up to the legacy you've left behind for all of us to enjoy. Thank you, Ms. Jackson! We appreciate your service," Said Alderman Cavalier Johnson.
The park is part of the Fond du Lac Avenue Reconstruction Project.
