New Berlin to rename Green Loop Trail following death of Mayor Timothy Tully

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) --- The New Berlin Common Council approved renaming the Green Loop Trail, lo

cated in Malone Park, to the Mayor Timothy K. Tully Trail.

Officials say this is the largest trail in New Berlin's flagship park.

Mayor Tully died in December at 70-years-old.

“There was an outpouring from the community upon news of Mayor Tully’s passing. The mark he left behind on this community was certainly made evident. We wanted to memorialize his civic contributions, while expressing our gratitude for his presence in our lives….what better location than the serenity of our wonderful Malone Park. I’m sure Tim spent many happy hours at Malone Park, enjoying 4th of July celebrations with family and friends throughout the years” Mayor Dave Ament said in a statement.

New Berlin will have a dedication ceremony on Saturday, June 5 at 10 a.m. in Malone Park. The Tully family and friends and dignitaries will attend the event.

The New Berlin Veterans Memorial Society will also dedicate a brick in honor of Tully's military service. Following the trail dedication, guests are invited to gather at the Veterans Memorial in New Berlin for the installation of the brick.
