New Berlin Police Department's Squad Car Attempts to Stop Vehicle by Striking It

A New Berlin Police Department’s squad car made contact with a vehicle in an attempt to stop it early Monday at 12:23 AM.

Officers attempted to stop a silver Acura 4-door displaying a facsimile temporary Wisconsin license plate in the 16200 block of West Rogers Drive.

The vehicle failed to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles and drove away northbound on Moorland Road.  Officers followed the vehicle as it entered the City of Brookfield when a New Berlin Police Department squad intentionally contacted the fleeing vehicle on Bluemound Road at Moorland Road.  This induced the vehicle to a safe stop and the driver fled on foot.

As of 4:05 AM the driver has not been located.

Minor property damage occurred to the fleeing vehicle and one New Berlin Police Department squad.  No officers or innocent civilians were injured.

The incident remains under investigation and leads are being followed.

The New Berlin Police Department was assisted by the City of Brookfield Police Department, Village of Elm Grove Police Department, Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
