Neighbors shocked by discovery of human bones near 13th and Juneau

MILWAUKEE -- Neighbors near 13th and Juneau say they are surprised to hear about the discovery of human bones on their block.

A construction crew made the disturbing find in a vacant lot around 5 p.m. Monday while working on a project.

Residents of the Guest House, a homeless shelter across the street from the site of the discovery, say they're shocked to hear about the gruesome find since the area houses a community garden where they work.

\"This is something we've been doing for a long time and it's just a way to raise money for the Guest House of Milwaukee,\" said Kory White. \"We had no idea. It's obvious because we could never even see it because it was all underground.\"

Milwaukee police says its department is investigating the case with help from the Wisconsin Crime Lab and Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office.
