Neighbors Help Catch a Robber and Came to the Aid of the Victim

Northwest Side neighborhood residents came to the aid of a 16-year-old girl that was struck by a man who stole her cell phone.

During the apprehension several citizens comforted the victim and helped provide valuable information to the officers.

A witness saw the suspect running away and pointed officers in his direction.

Officers responded to the 5500 block of N. 35th Street around 12:30 p.m. on September 13 where they were met by the victim, a 16-year-old female.

The victim told officers a male suspect came up to her, struck her, and stole her cell phone before he fled on foot.

The suspect, a 38-year-old Milwaukee man and convicted felon, had more than a gram of cocaine on him and was quickly taken into custody in the 5500 block of N. 32nd Street.

Officers were also able to locate the stolen cell phone.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
