Brewers preview homestand, new fan plaza ahead of Cubs series
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Deer District has made national headlines throughout the playoffs, and now Milwaukee fans have a chance to show their stuff on the national stage.
About 20,000 fans made it out to the Deer District for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday, July 6. Fans got the news they were looking for before the game. About 40 minutes before tipoff, a roar erupted through the Deer District.
Giannis Antetokounmpo was back in.
"It's a wrap, it's a wrap," a fan told CBS 58. "Nobody can stop Giannis. Giannis is on the court, say goodbye Suns."
The underdog Bucks came out of the gate even with the Phoenix Suns.
"Giannis is superman, Alright? Bucks in six," another fan said.
The Bucks have added additional space to the Deer District every round. For the finals, they continued adding space, and local food trucks.
"I'm happy because at the end of the day, you know, some people come down here and drink, and you know they need something on their stomach before they drink. So it's fabulous that they got food here, you know? I'm excited," Kewon Whitmore: Bucks fan, said.
Bucks fans kept the energy up, hoping their team could win their first championship since 1the 1970s.
"I feel so good, shout out to the bucks," a fan said. "We doing what we need to do."
The fans did get lucky on the lack of rain Tuesday. Reports of rain may have cut down on crowd turnout.
