NBA G League's Wisconsin Herd set to become the 'Wisconsin HER' to benefit women's empowerment

OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The National Basketball Association's G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Wisconsin Herd, has often designed and worn unique jerseys for one night only, then auctioned them off to benefit causes in need.

From the Boys & Girls Clubs in the area, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin as well as a fund that went towards over a dozen schools across the Fox Valley, the tradition has allowed the Herd to contribute multiple times a season.

The Herd's next project is becoming the "Wisconsin HER" for an evening to benefit a women's empowerment organization during their matchup against the Windy City Bulls on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.

The game's specialty jerseys feature purple silhouettes of women with different hairstyles, different facial structures and different skin colors. Purple, white and green are the featured colors of the uniform with an aim to symbolize women’s equality. These jerseys will be auctioned off at https://WISCONSINHER.givesmart.com on Feb. 10 at noon.

Funds raised from the jersey sales will go towards We EmpowHER, an organization with the goal of providing women and children with a safe, supportive community where participants are encouraged and empowered to engage in year-round programming, utilize community resources and embrace being valued members of the community.

The Herd and We EmpowHER will also team up to host a free Wisconsin HER pre-game event at Oshkosh Arena from 2 - 5 p.m. with on-site registration beginning at 1:45 p.m. and breakout sessions lasting for 45 minutes.

More information about the pre-game event can be found by clicking here and information about the Wisconsin HER game itself can be found by clicking here.
