Much needed chance for storms expected overnight

It has been very dry since the start of meteorological summer on June 1.  Milwaukee is now 1.23" below average.  A few storms have popped this afternoon on a lake breeze, but those are expected to diminish after sundown.

Another round of showers and storms are expected to develop to our northwest later tonight.  If that holds together it's expected to bring rain and some storms across southeastern Wisconsin for the Thursday morning commute.

The overall severe risk is low; however, some storms could contain gusty winds and small hail.  Once the clouds and rain clear out, highs will surge into the lower 90s with the heat index near 100 by the late afternoon.

Another chance for some storms will arrive late Thursday night into Friday morning.  Friday highs could reach 97!
